Bob Adams
Robert H. Adams, 89, of rural Lexington died Friday, September 9, 2016 at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
Robert was born December 5, 1926 in Lexington to Robert and Esme (Olsen) Adams. He attended school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1944. Bob farmed after high school and served his country in the U.S. Army. After the Army he returned home and spent the rest of his working years farming.
Bob was united in marriage to Catherine M. Purintun on April 24, 1949 in Overton, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with three children Dave, Randy and Ann.
Bob loved life on the farm, sports and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include; wife Catherine of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter, Ann and husband William Verzani of South Sioux City, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Adam, Caid, Allie and Holli.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Dave and Randy, one bother: Ben and an infant sister Caroline.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Rev. Thayne Moore, officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to Overton Fire and Rescue Department or the donor’s choice.

Maxine Carlson
Maxine Evelyn (Mrs. Donald) Carlson, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at Golden Living Care Center in Cozad, Nebraska.
She was born July 14, 1926, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Lewis Henry and Eva Mae (Dillman) Lange.
Maxine grew up in Lexington and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1944, and then Kearney State College.
She was united in marriage to Donald Carlson on May 22, 1948, at North Platte, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this union; Thomas and Vicki Sue.
Maxine taught school in Lexington and in the Bertrand area. She played piano for many activities at District #38 school when her children were growing up. She also helped her husband with the farming operation. But, her most cherished career was raising her children and keeping her home. She loved flower gardening and sewing.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Rebekah Myrtle Lodge, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter: Vicki Sue and husband, Mike Davis of Lexington, Nebraska, Daughter-in-law: Kay Carlson of Lexington, Nebraska, 5 grandchildren and 7 7/8ths great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald and son, Tom.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Viola Cline
Viola May Cline, 86 years of age, of Bertrand, died Friday, Aug, 10, 2012 at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege.
Memorial services will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Darrel Wissmann officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. There will be no visitation. The family is honoring her wish for cremation.
Viola was born May 17, 1926 at Lexington, the second of six children born to Thomas James and Martha Marie (Sullivan) Hagan. She received her primary education and later graduated from Lexington Public Schools with the Class of 1944. Viola helped with the family after graduation. Later, with her sister Clara and cousin, Doris (Hollibaugh) Green, the girls traveled to Denver to work in the factories during the war. Viola and Doris went to work for the Cleo Plunkett Shows and met Kenny Cline who was employed by the Gill Gray Circus.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Irwin Cline on May 21, 1958 at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln. The family was blessed with two daughters: Valerie and Sandra. The family made their home on acreage in Bertrand since 1964 to be close to Viola's family.
Viola and Kenny enjoyed the concession business and continued working for the Carden and Johnson Shrine Circus. They expanded on their own in 1960, serving cotton candy, sno cones and chocolate nut sundaes on a stick. They worked fairs in Nebraska and Kansas where Viola and Kenny enjoyed serving the public.
Viola loved her family and often would stay home with the girls. She enjoyed taking care of their small farm, working with livestock and gardening. Viola also enjoyed a trip to the Platte for some fishing. Always being outdoors with the dogs and the grandkids was the best for her.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters: Valerie (Gary) Percival of Oxford, Sandy (Mike) Hill of Loup City; four grandchildren, Ian (Patty) Stewart of North Platte, Ahron Stewart of Lexington, Jessica and Thomas Percival in Oxford; one great-grandson, Aiden Stewart of Lexington; sisters, Clara Schlotman of Ocean Park, Wash., Agnes (Edsel) Chandler of Smithfield, Lois Hagan of Bertrand; sister-in-law, Phyillis Richardson of Elm Creek and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, in 1977 and brothers, William (Bill) Hagan and Ralph Hagan.

Pfc. Lyonel Eich Dies of Wounds in Germany
Was Injured in Action April 13 Report Indicates
John Eich received a wire from the War Department Monday May 14th, that his son, Pfc. Lyonel H. Eich died of wounds received in Germany on April 13, 1945. No other details were given, but stated that a letter would follow.
Pfc. Eich, who graduated from the Lexington high school last spring, entered the Army on August 22, 1944. After taking his basic training at Camp Fannin, Texas, he was sent overseas about the first of the year. He was in the Infantry with the First Army in France and Germany.
On August 16, 1944 he was married to Miss Iryl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tomasek, of Lexington, Nebr., at Phillipsburg, Kansas. His wife is making her home with her parents near Lexington.
Lyonel's mother, Mrs. Harold Hunt, formerly of Cozad, Nebr., now lives at Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Pfc. Lyonel H. Eich was the son of John Eich of Lexington, Nebraska. He came to Lexington to make his hom ein 1942 and graduated from Lexington high school in 1944. Prior to coming here he attended school in Cozad.
He was employed at the Lincoln Cleaners.
On August 16, 1944 he was united in marriage with Iryl Tomasek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tomasek of Lexington.
Pfc. Eich entered the Army on August 22, 1944, and took his training at Camp Fannin, Texas. He was serving with the American First Army in Germany when he was killed in action, on April 13, 1945.
Mrs. Eich is making her home with her parents in Lexington.
