George Allen
George Luckett Allen, 90, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 12, 1935, in Lexington, Nebraska, to George Leslie and Jennie (Luckett) Allen. He attended school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the Class of 1953. On June 29, 1958, George was united in marriage to Joan Bauer in Seward, Nebraska. Four children were born to this union: Leslie, Jodi, Mark, and Patti.
In his younger years, George participated in 4-H and later became a 4-H leader. A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, George, along with Joan, served as a deacon and faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels to members of the community.
George dedicated his life to farming and ranching. Long before GPS technology became commonplace, his straight corn rows and weed-free soybean fields reflected the pride and care he took in his work. He also raised sheep and Red Angus cattle.
Family was at the center of George's life. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children through the endless tasks of farm life. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and visits to the farm with "Grampy" became treasured memories filled with adventure. George also enjoyed board games and playing cards. The kitchen table, worn smooth from years of nightly domino games with Joan, stood as a quiet testament to the life they shared together.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Joan Allen of Lexington; his children, Jodi (Scott) Hultquist of Silverdale, Washington, Mark (Michelle) Allen of Lexington, and Patti (Mike) Maguire of Lexington; his grandchildren, Travis Hultquist, Abby (Spencer) Hansen, Emma Hultquist, Jenna (Bryan) Fast, Micala (Jaron) Dempcy, Rose (Spencer Mullins) Allen, Zoie Allen, Max (Malyssa) Maguire, and Elliot Maguire; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, Leslie Allen; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Miriam) Allen; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Beryl) Bauer; and his nephew, Steve Bauer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, with Reverend Eddie Mariel officiating. The service will be livestreamed via the First Presbyterian Church website.
A luncheon will follow in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
A private family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.

Marilyn Biehl
Marilyn May (Brown) Biehl, 88, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Elwood Care Center.
She was born on February 2, 1935 in Montgomery City, Missouri to Melvin and Selma (May) Brown. Marilyn lived in Missouri until 1949, when her family moved to Lexington. Marilyn graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953.
While in High School, Marilyn met the love of her life, Jim during a High School Church Fellowship. Marilyn was united in marriage to James “Jim” Biehl on February 14, 1954 in Lexington at the First Presbyterian Church. Two children were blessed to this union: Roger James and Janice Kay. The family made their home in the Lexington area, where Marilyn focused her efforts on caring for the home and raising her children.
Marilyn was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington and 70-year member, where she was active in many church organizations. She was also a member of the Grant Extension Club, Hospital Auxiliary, and past member of the Nebraska Cattlewomen.
Marilyn and Jim enjoyed traveling together, and she thoroughly loved following her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and in her later years when the great-grandchildren came along, they were the highlight of her life.
She also enjoyed quilting, square dancing and traveling to different wineries in Nebraska and Missouri with friends. Marilyn decided to take charge of her health and began the Weight Watchers program where she lost over 100lbs. This was a great accomplishment in her life. Above all, Marilyn has left a tremendous legacy of love, and faith to her family.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of Lexington; her daughter, Janice (Lynn) Lans of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Justin (Da’Lacy) Lans, Jillian (Justin) Dowdy, Jacey May (Austen) Klemm, Brandy (Cody) Popken, Amanda Christensen, Aleah Biehl, Isaac Biehl, and Rachel (Connor) Lemke; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Joslynn, James, and Jorgianna Lans, Jackson and Jamie Dowdy, Bodee and Shaya May Klemm, Kamryn Pike, Kinley Popken, Giana and Malik Christensen; brother, Leroy (Lettie) Brown of Roseburg, Oregon and sister-in-law, Patricia (Donald) McAnallen of Lakeview, Oregon; brother-in-law, Buss (Carolyn) Biehl of Kearney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Roger Biehl; grandson, Jason Lans; brother, Richard Brown, sisters-in-law, Casey Biehl and Bernice (Phil) Pebley; in-laws, Wesley and Else Biehl.
A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Chuck Olsen, officiating.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
A Private Family Interment will be held prior to the Service.

Ruth Carter
Ruth I. Carter of Cozad passed away July 9, 2017 at Cozad Care Center at the age of 82. Ruth was born July 3, 1935 at Lexington, Nebraska to Ira and Georgia (Oliver) Vance and was the youngest of 9 children. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953. Ruth married Paul Carter in 1955. The couple lived in Chicago, Illinois where Paul was stationed while in the Army. In 1957, their son Robert was born. Shortly after, they moved back to Lexington where their daughter Laura was born. The family moved to Colorado where they resided for 13 years before returning to Cozad. Ruth worked for Evans Bakery in Cozad until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; daughter, Laura; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; and many more relatives. Survivors include her son Robert Carter and wife Teresa of Kearney; grandchildren, Stephanie McKillop and husband Jeff, Jennifer Palu and husband Brad, April Yang and husband Peter and Ian Lemmer; great grandchildren, Juliet, Parker and Max McKillop, Harrison Palu and Madison and Carter Yang; 39 nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Clark Carter of Cozad; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Carter of Bertrand and Joan Vance of Omaha.
A graveside memorial service will be held will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Hewitt Cemetery east of Cozad with Rev. Victor Rasmussen officiating. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Wednesday from 1 to 5 at Berryman Funeral Home.

Libbie Freeze
Libbie Rae Freeze, 78, of Pleasant Hill, Calif., died quietly in her sleep July 26, 2013 in Pleasant Hill. A graveside service will be held on Aug.12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif., where she will be placed next to her husband, Robert Freeze.
Born in Cozad, Libbie grew up around Lexington with her brother, Gordon, and graduated from Lexington High School in 1953. She held various jobs as a bookkeeper, Teletype operator and filing clerk.
In 1954, she married Robert W. Freeze, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and they moved west--looking for work—ending up San Diego, Calif., where she worked for a public accountant. A few years later, they relocated north to Livermore, Calif., where, and after a series of jobs, she eventually started her career at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where she worked as a microfilm operator and film processor for 30 years until 1993.
The couple learned to fly in the early 1960s, with both earning their private pilot licenses. They were active members of the Civil Air Patrol, and even owned a small Cessna airplane based at the Livermore Airport for several years. Starting in the 1970s, she and Robert started raising quarter horses at their ranch in Tracy, Calif., and became active in the Northern California horse show scene.
In 1994, they retired from work and horses, and moved to Mokelumne Hill, Calif. There, she became active in a number of organizations including the Lion's Club, VFW, International Questers and volunteered at the local library.
She had recently moved to Pleasant Hill to be closer to her family and had been living an active life with her dog Sugar, whom she took on frequent walks and was a familiar sight in the neighborhood.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth L. (Michele) Freeze of Martinez, Calif, and her three grandchildren, Christopher L. Freeze, Sarah Furtado and Ann Furtado. Preceding her in death were her husband of 53 years, Robert, and her daughter, Deborah E. Furtado.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Foundation of Frederick, Md. or Lions International. Connolly and Taylor in Martinez, Calif., is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Graves
Margaret A. (Wallace) Graves, 72, passed away on May 31, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Margaret was born August 24, 1936, in Lexington, Nebraska to W. Clyde and Bernis (Meek) Wallace. She attended Robb School District 3 and Lexington High School graduating in 1953. After high school Margaret was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. On March 17, 1956 she was united in marriage to Clyde J. (C.J.) Graves at the United Methodist Church in Lexington. After settling first in Grand Island and then in O'Neill, Margaret welcomed the birth of her only child, Richard after which they moved to Gothenburg where Margaret was employed by the Gothenburg State Bank until they moved to North Platte where Margaret worked for First National Bank.
After retiring in 1990 Margaret and CJ spent time traveling and later shuttled between their home in North Platte and their winter home in Mission, Texas. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church Choir in Gothenburg, a member of the Lake Maloney Golf Course and Two-Ten Extension Club in Gothenburg. She was an avid reader, horse lover and golfer. In 2007 Margaret made a hole in one on Martin's Golf Course in Palmview, Texas.
Margaret is survived by her husband Clyde (CJ), her son Richard Graves and his wife Crystal of Palo, Iowa, one grandchild, April, one brother Bob Wallace and wife Sue of Lexington, one sister, Marilyn Kring and husband Ken of Lexington, four nieces, Lori Compston and husband Dick of Lexington, Kathy Kring of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tracy and husband Colin Parsons of Sacramento Ca, and Tami Wallace of San Francisco Ca, and two great-nieces, Olivia Kate and Lily Margaret Parsons of Sacramento.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Wallace. She will be missed dearly by those who knew her best. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Callahan Cancer Center in North Platte. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles L. Spence officiating. Inurnment will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Robb Cemetery near Lexington. Those wishing to sign her memorial book may do so from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tues through Thursday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
