Larry Adams
Larry Milton Adams passed away October 25, 2009.
Born in Kansas, he was the son of the late James and Alice (Anderson) Adams. Larry was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Bud Adams; and his sister, Donna (Adams) Brandenberg.
Larry was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church. He retired as a CWO4 from the U.S. Army after 29 years of distinguished service. Larry served as a helicopter pilot beginning in Viet Nam and honored as the Distinguished Member of the Regiment of the Transportation Corps in 1997. Larry was also a retired banker of ten years from Wachovia Bank.
Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of sixteen years, Stacie Adams; three children, Matthew Adams (Shelly) of NE, Cassie Johnson (Mark) of OK, and Briggs Adams (Megan) of KS; five grandchildren, Blake, Caleb, Hailey, Kaitlyn, and Reagan; his brother, Harold Adams of KS; his sister, Jan Dorner of NE; and a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
A Home Going Celebration will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, October 29, 2009, at London Bridge Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Larry's family. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Larry Conyers
Larry Conyers, 71, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Lexington Regional Medical Center in Lexington.
Larry was born December 16, 1940, at Minden, Nebraska to Cecil and Marie (Quadhamer) Conyers. He moved with this family to Lexington as a young boy. He attended elementary school at Lexington and was a 1959 graduate of Lexington High School.
Larry was united in marriage to Susan Rager on August 14, 1981 in Lincoln, Nebraska. One daughter, Denna, was blessed to this marriage.
Larry worked for Salisbury Ford from 1970 to 1980, he then opened his own shop, Conyer's Automotive in 1980, retiring in 2004.
Larry's love was racing late models at Dawson County Speedway. He raced from 1974-1979, then 1983-1993, and was the speedway promoter from 1984-1992.
He loved to play cards, NASCAR, talk about and work on cars, but, most especially, he loved having his daughter and family home to visit. The grandchildren were his world and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Larry will be so missed.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years: Susan Conyers of Lexington, NE, One daughter and son-in-law: Denna and Kyle Dungan of Marshalltown, IA, Two grandchildren: Makenna and Jameson Dungan of Marshalltown, IA, One nephew: Darin Racek of Lexington, NE.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Tom Racek and niece, Theresa Racek.
Larry's last wishes were that his body be donated to scientific research. There will be no visitation.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating.

Philip O'Keefe Crowley, age 66, of Houston, Texas, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Houston. Survivors include his mother, Edith Crowley of Lexington; his wife of 38 years, Ann; three daughters, Maggie (Corey Brown), Anna and Mary; and grandchildren, Tobias and Adelaide Brown. He was preceded in death by his father, A. Keefe Crowley, in December 1981.
Philip was born Nov. 5, 1941 in McCook, and grew up in Lexington. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1959, where he lettered in track and football. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Boy Scouts National Order of the Arrow. Philip served in the US Army as a Sergeant in military intelligence from 1961 to 1965. He received a B.A. in journalism in 1971 and J.D. in 1974, both from Creighton University in Omaha. He practiced law in Omaha and moved to Houston in 1986 with the merger of InterNorth and Houston Natural Gas that created Enron. He retired from Enron in 2001. Philip had a passion for reading, enjoyed politics and music, and was actively involved in youth sports.

Sally Esslinger
Marcella M. “Sally” Esslinger, 77 of Lexington passed away Monday, June 26, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Lexington after a ten year battle with cancer.
Sally was born in Ord, Nebraska, near the Loup River, to Milford and Myrtle (Bartos) Naprstek. She moved with the family to the Lexington area when she was six months old.
Sally was united in marriage to Wesley Esslinger on August 30, 1959 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. Sally and Wes have always been very active in church activities.
Sally worked at Lexington Community Hospital and later Monroes. She then was co-owner of the Sale Barn Cafe before being a waitress at several Lexington businesses including Little Paris, the Leprechaun and The Vet’s Club. She was a great people person, so these jobs fit her to a tee. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Daytona in February for many years with Wes and Sandie. She spent many nights watching racing at local tracks. In later years she enjoyed watching the Food Network, when racing wasn’t on TV. Sally and Wes enjoyed dancing for many years and Sally enjoyed bowling in league. Sally also always enjoyed being with her large family.
Survivors include her husband, Wes of Lexington; children, Sandie and husband Bob Anderson of Lexington, Rick and wife Jill Esslinger of Cozad and Sherry and husband Shane Area of Overton; three brothers: Milton (Arla) Naprstek of Minden, Melvin Naprstek of Metter, Georgia and Milford (Loretta) Naprstek of Lexington; four sisters, Marilyn Fuqua of Kearney, Mary Ann Todd of Simi Valley, California, Martha Dory of Lexington and Marjorie (George) Trent of Columbus, Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Katie Rhodig, Lynn Forster, Korey Forster, Seth Area, Brett Area, Andrew Area, Amanda Area, Samantha Area, Steven Area and Mica Esslinger. Nine great-grandchildren, with baby girl Area on the way. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to Vesta Liehs, Karen Latter, Diana Underwood, Trudy Svoboda and Char Barron & Elaine Peck, affectionately known as the Elves.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sharon Forster, two brothers, Marvin and Marion and two sisters, Maxine Rieker and Marsha Pearson, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws and extended family.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastors Rob Kuefner and Bill Ohlmann, officiating.
Interment will be in the Elwood Cemetery in Elwood, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.

Betty Fothergill
Betty (Reed) Fothergill, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Brookefield Park in Saint Paul, Nebraska.
Betty was born August 1, 1941, the 4th of 5 children, to George and Edna (Courter) Reed. She grew up on the family farm east of Lexington and attended District 3 school. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1959.
Betty was a mother, housewife, and worked odd jobs, including as a waitress at Coney Island and Big John’s in Grand Island, and as a baker at Karre City Bakery in Lexington. She started taking care of the elderly in their homes in the early 1990s and continued until she had to retire for health reasons in 2000. Betty enjoyed baking her famous banana bread, gambling at casinos, BINGO, and playing cards.
Survivors include her sons Joe (Becky) Krejci of Grand Island, Mike Krejci of Prescott Valley, AZ; daughters Lisa Krejci (Jason Collins) of Sacramento, CA, and Linda (Brian) Cornelius of Saint Libory; and sister-in-law Nola Reed of Lexington.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Marvin Krejci and Harold Fothergill; brothers Bob Reed, G. Tom Reed and Dick Reed; and sister Pat Rozell.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:30am at Reynolds Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Sarah Neben, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
