Braulio Barron
Braulio Barron Jr., 76, of Greeley, Colo., formerly of Lexington, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, surrounded by large gathering of his loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Matt Koperski officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. all at the church.
Braulio was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Lexington to Braulio and Mary (Picon’) Barron.
In 1960 he married Glenda M. Wilcox and they had three children, Braulio (Bob) Glenn III., Stephen (Butch) Paul, and Mary Denise.
In the early-80s, Braulio moved to Greeley, Colo. While in Greeley, Braulio and his companion, Candy, enjoyed outdoor activities along with raising a small herd of cattle (all of whom were appropriately named) along with many cats, chicken, goats, geese, birds and other animals that would wander onto the land.
Braulio’s favorite things in his life involved family and friends. Foremost, he loved to tell stories and appreciated everyone who would listen, especially Tonya who often drove him to medical appointments and cared for him. He looked forward to the Barron Family Reunion so that he could reunite with all of his sisters and other family to reminisce, laugh, and dance to good Latin/mariachi music. He also enjoyed sports, especially fishing and hunting when he had the opportunity and watching baseball and football on TV.
Survivors include his children; Bob (Julie) Barron III, of Monument, Colo., Butch Barron of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Christopher Braulio, Andrew Paul, Zoey Denise, India Pearl; two great-grandchildren: Braxon Braulio and Breken Dean; eight sisters; Ruby Ramirez of Arapahoe; Toni (Charles) Barron of North Platte; Mary Lou (Reyes) Robles of Lexington, Susie (Jesse) Duarte of Bertrand, Nellie Rodriguez of Kansas City, Kan., Patty Zamora of Kansas City, Mo., Veronica Perez of Arapahoe and, Jennie Blea of Atwood, Colo.; step-grandchildren: Sean (Jennifer) Bodin, Rachel Bodin, Jessie (Jackson) Chatterly, Britney Marvin, Tjasha Huffmaster, and Savannah (Blade) Hudgens; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Braulio was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Florentino and David; sisters, Andrea Gonzalez, and Ramona Barron; daughter Denise; brothers-in-law: Valentino Blea, Mike Rodriquez, Ralph Zamora, John Perez, Leo Gonzalez and Tom Ramirez; as well as many other relatives.
A memorial fund has been established at Pinnacle Bank in Lexington, NE. Honorary donations are suggested to TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado (Greeley) and St. Jude Children’s Research hospital.

Elsie Brown
Elsie Louise (Gries) Brown, 68, of Bertrand died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Elwood Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the Rev. Mike Szekely officiating. Private family burial of cremains will be later. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Sandstrom Funeral Home of Bertrand is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Dec. 11, 1941, in Onawa, Iowa, to Melvin and Clara (Martz) Gries.
Survivors include her son, Scott of Lexington; daughters, Teola Campbell of Holdrege and Carrie McHarness of Axtell; brothers, Larry Gries of Omaha and Frank Strong of Eustis; sisters, Catherine Hoselton of Eustis and Linda Jones of Cozad; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.Published in the Kearney Hub on 9/28/2010

Sue Bryan
Susan Jo Bryan, age 82, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2024, in Cozad, NE. She was born on July 1, 1942, to Kenneth and Lucille (Miller) Holen in Kearney, NE, and raised on a farm outside of Bertrand, NE. 
She attended Westmark Church and went to school in Bertrand until 1958 when her family moved to Lexington, NE, and opened a flower shop – “Holen Floral”. Susan graduated from Lexington High School in 1960 and became an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Very shortly after, she married and welcomed three children into the world, David Bruce, Diane Sue, and Cheryl (Cheri) Ann.
A few years later, she fell in love and married Gerald (Jerry) Bryan and Jerry adopted her children. Jerry brought four children from his previous marriage into their blended family… Cheryl (Cheri) Kay, Craig Charles, Christopher Allen, and Carolyn Ann… Susan loved them and embraced them all as her own. They were blessed with 35 years of marriage.
Susan worked at her family’s flower shop until it closed in 1996. She then worked at Trautman’s Meat Center and was a cook at Lexington Public Schools until she retired.
Susan loved square dancing with her husband Jerry. She also kept busy with her kids in Boots ‘n Spurs 4-H club and riding in the Plum Creekers Mounted Drill Team. Every chance she got she enjoyed spending time at their land on the river.
Above all else was Susan’s unwavering love for her family. Each child & grandchild held a unique place in her heart and she loved spending time with them. She was notorious for having a camera in her hand to capture all the special moments with her children and grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond family ties; anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her felt the warmth of her kindness. Like her dad, she never met a stranger.
Susan lived a life rich with love and devotion to her family and faith. She maintained a profound relationship with Christ that guided her actions throughout her life.
As we remember this woman whose legacy is woven into our hearts forever – we celebrate not only the wonderful life she lived but also how profoundly she touched lives of everyone she met through simple acts of kindness – the hallmark of someone truly extraordinary like Susan will never fade away from our memories nor diminish over time.
Susan was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wm. and Opal (Karr) Holen, her parents Kenneth and Lucille (Miller) Holen, husband Jerry, son David Bryan, stepson Craig Bryan, great-grandson Liam Martin, step-granddaughter Emily Trumble, and brother William (Bill) Holen.
Susan is survived by daughters Cheri Gehle of Cozad, NE, Diane (Al) Saunders of Lexington, daughter-in-law Becky Bryan of Omaha, step-son Chris (Barb) Bryan of Lincoln, step-daughters Cheri Kay (Dan) Trumble and Carolyn Cunningham of Lincoln, sister Sandy (Tim) Johnson of Omaha, sister-in-law and best friend Nancy Holen of Cozad, sister Patty Feldman of Overland Park, KS, grandchildren Lindsey Bryan, Trevor Bryan, Kaitlyn (Michael) Woltemath, Aaron Gehle, Preston Gehle, Jessica Hernandez, Jennifer Martin, Stephanie Saunders, Tiffany Cunningham, Emily Kuhle, Nathan, Tristan and Casey Trumble, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor John Strackbein, officiating. The service will be live streamed via the Grace Lutheran Church Facebook and YouTube page. https://www.gracelutheranlex.com/

Dennis Burmood
Dennis S. Burmood, 79, of Lexington passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his home.
Denny, you left us early Thanksgiving surrounded by your family, Jo, Kim, Chris, Ben and Blake. We are thankful we were there to hold your hand, to let you know you are loved and will be missed. Your leaving tore a hole in our hearts. We want you to know that you battled this cancer with dignity and grace. However, cancer does not define you. Your legacy is how you treated people. How accepted and respected you made each of us feel.
Dennis Sheridan Burmood was born to Tex and Bobbie Burmood August 5, 1942 in Grand Island, Nebraska. Denny spent his first 14 years traveling with his parents from state to state, as his dad was a lineman for Bell Telephone. When he was school age he lived with his Grandma and Grandpa Burmood in Grand Island. Summer months were spent at Grandma Oliver in Shelton, where his uncles taught him to hunt and fish. This nomadic lifestyle ended when Bobbie, Tex and Denny settled in Lexington where his brother Michael was born.
Denny participated in band, quartet and football at Lexington High School. He was proud to be part of the 1958 Hall of Fame Lexington football team. After graduating he attended Kearney State College.
Denny met Jo Milhoan while detasseling corn one summer. They were married three years later at the Methodist Church in Lexington. They were blessed with three children, Kim, Chris and Ben and grandchildren: Zach, Jaden, Blake and Frankie Jo.
Denny was a great friend and hard working guy. You may remember him from helping you at Sixth Street Foods. He may have poured you a beer at the Vet's Club or shown you the door at the Blue Lounge. Denny may have pulled the chute for your big ride at the Plum Creek Rodeo. Together Denny and Jo created their business, Fine Touch. He was a good neighbor and never met a stranger. Denny and Jo welcomed all into their home. Many alone for the holidays found a home at the Burmood's. If you were sick, he visited you in the hospital. If you needed a ride, he was at your front door. If you needed a friend, he was there.
There will be so many missed moments. Who's going to dance like there's no tomorrow? How do we face Christmas without your lights illuminating our home? Who will trap the possums in our basement?
We will miss you every day, Denny! Your memory will be cherished by Jo, daughter; Kim, sons: Christopher (Julie Quattrochi) and Benjamin (Laura Smuskiewicz). Grandchildren: Zachary Jaden, Blake and Frankie Jo Burmood. Brother; Mike (Pam) Burmood of Prescott, AZ. Sisters-in-law: Susan (Tom) Bokenkamp of Kearney; Cindy (Kirk) Skiles of Lincoln; Cathy Milhoan of Denver. Brothers-in-law: Randy Milhoan of Vail, CO and Ron (Melodie) Milhoan of Abiquiu, New Mexico and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Hali Brook Burmood and brother-in-law Ron Iverson.

A Celebration Of Life will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Pastor Anne Gahn, officiating.

Sharon Comstock
Sharon Sue Comstock, daughter of Daniel Boyd and Doris Maude (Wildt) Wood, was born May 3, 1942 in Dawson County, NE. She passed away October 8, 1989 in Hamburg, Iowa at the age of 47 years, 5 months and 5 days.
She received her education in the Lexington, Nebraska schools where she graduated from high school in 1960. During 1960 she attended the Midwest School of Evangelism in Ottawa, Iowa.
On August 6, 1961 she was united in marriage to Howard James Comstock at the Church of Christ in Lexington. They made their home in Lexington until moving to Riverton, Iowa, where they have lived most of their married life. Sharon began work at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa in 1978 and in 1979 she became a Certified Nurse's Aide.
She was a devoted wife and mother and was a friend to all. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In her early teens Sharon had given her life to Christ and was a faithful Member of the Church of Christ of Rock Port, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband Howard of the home in Riverton; one daughter Pamela S. Comstock of Riverton, Four sons: Michael L. Comstock, Red Oak, Iowa, Rick D. Comstock, Riverton, Daniel E. Comstock, Shenandoah, Iowa and Thomas C. Comstock of Riverton; five grandchildren; two brothers Stanley Wood, Mesa, Arizona and S.R. Wood of Denver, Colorado and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Stephan J. Comstock and one sister Susan Kay McGluphry.
Pallbearers: Darren Harvey, Darrell Harvey, Charles Harvey, Gary Haith, Cameron Pope and Lawrence Wedel.
